This property was first built as a single story motel in 1968. Later in 1974 a sixteen story tower was added to the site that connected to a restaurant and indoor pool area. In 1988 a five story building with 105 rooms was added to the complex, at that time operating 405 rooms. The property was operating through 2008 and closed. It was abandoned in 2009 for 7 years before the property was acquired by a New Zealand Hotel Resort operator The V & R Group.
Yukon Building was hired as the construction Manager to restore the complex. The project started in April 2016 with demolition on phase l of three phases. The first phase of the project consisted of restoring all the HVAC, electrical systems from transformers to all the main switch gear stolen by scalpers. All the existing copper piping was taken so the plant was totally rebuilt, developed into 192 suites and 8 executive rooms.
Three banquet rooms and a convention hall were put on line supported by a 5000 sq. ft. Nomad Restaurant as part of Phase l. This property opened in September 2017, a 13.7 million renovation now operating as the Best Western Premier Hotel.
Phase ll is proposed to start in September 2018, consisting of 63 executive suites, 5 meeting rooms and separate entrance to the property off Franklin Rd.
Phase lll is planned to operate as a La Quinta hotel. The property will operate separately from the Best Western Primer hotel. It will have a new main entrance off Franklin Rd., adding an additional 8000 sq. ft. entrance lobby. This will support the five story building renovated into a 105 room complex. This property will also have a pool and health spa. The property is slated to start construction April 2019 and expect to be in operation in January 2020.
